ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s Colombo Stock Exchange said it will be closed for the second day on March 18, after the government declared a three-day holiday for most businesses and state agencies to as part of anti-Coronavirus measures.
“Considering the preventive steps that have been taken by the Government today, the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), in consultation with Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka, has decided that the CSE will remain closed on Wednesday, 18thMarch 2020 for Trading,” the CSE said.
Sri Lanka stocks have fallen 20 percent over 2020, with steep falls last week.
On Tuesday in a national address President Gotabaya Rajapaksa ordered banks not to collect loan repayments for six months and to give working capital loans at 4 percent. (Colombo/Mar17/2020)
