Sri Lanka to adopt Swiss Challenge process for unsolicited proposals
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka will follow a ‘Swiss Challenge’ process to entertain unsolicited proposals made to the government on future procurements, Information Minister Gayantha Karunathilaka said.
Under a Swiss Challenge procedure, an innovative unsolicited proposal made by a company to the government is made public, and other competitors are given a chance to match it.
The original firm itself may be allowed to give a lower bid in some coutnries.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, as Minister for National Policies and Economic Affairs, has proposed to include Guidelines on the Swiss Challenge procedure prepared by the Finance Ministry in line with Government Procurement Guidelines. (Colombo/Aug08/2016)
