Sri Lanka to build more fishery harbours, upgrade cold storage: Buget2019
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s finance minister Mangala Samarawera said the government will allocate more funds to build fishery harbours and modernise the cold storage facilities to improve fish production.
Samaraweera told parliament the government will allocate 1.3 billion rupees in its 2019 budget for the projects.
Fishery harbours will be built in Point Pedro and Mandaitivu in the northern Jaffna peninsula, he said presenting the budget.
Cold storage facilities for fishing boats will also be upgraded as well as safety gear with government subsidising half the cost, he said.
