Sri Lanka to build two 10MW wind power plants in north
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s government has approved the construction of two 10MW wind power plants in Chunnakam, in northern Jaffna, a spokesman said.
The Cabinet of Ministers this week approved a proposal by Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, to award the tenders for the wind power plants as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee.
The spokesman said the government aims to generate a larger portion of electricity by renewable energy sources and wants to establish solar and wind power plants.
