Sri Lanka to call investors for property and multimodal transport hub

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka will call competitive tenders to hand over a 9 acre land (about 4 hectares) in Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo for a property and multimodal transport hub project.

The cabinet of ministers had approved a proposal by Megapolis Minister Champika Ranawaka to tender a 9 acre 3 rood 7 perch land in Colombo’s Fort area known as the Chalmers Granary.

The land is now owned by state-run Urban Development Authority.

Sri Lanka planning to build light rail transit lines and bus lanes which will connect to the multimodal transport hub.

Several studies has been conducted and rapid transit projects have been in the proposal stage for several years. (Colombo/Sept15/2017)
