Sri Lanka to give Rs800,000 student loan for private degrees:Budget2017

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka government support undergraduates who enter private tertiary education institutions with 800,000 rupee student loan, Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake said.

This will be available to students who qualify for university entrance but there are no places in state universities.

He said 300 million rupees will be allocated for the purposes this year.

Karunanayake said in the next several years, places for university entrance will be doubled to 50,000 a year.
