Sri Lanka to start sea cucumber processing factory in Jaffna
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s Suganth Seafood (Pvt) Ltd, will start a 1.3 million US dollar factory to process sea cucumbers for exports, the state investment promotion agency said.
Sea cucumbers will be harvested in the North and East seas of Sri Lanka by trained divers.
Managing Director Suganthaseelan Aravinthan had signed an investment agreement with Board of Investment Chairman Susantha Ratnayake.
“We focus on strict adherence to the Government norms, Eco- conscious methodologies, transparent business practices and on time delivery,” Suganthaseelan was quoted as saying.
The firm hoped to gradually expand the operation, he had said. (Colombo/Sept16/2020)
