Sri Lanka tourist arrivals zero in April, 10,000 in country

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka got zero tourist arrivals in April 2020, the tourism promotion office sending the total arrivals so far into the country down 44.1 percent to 507,311 data from the state tourist promotion office showed.

Sri Lanka’s tourism office has said that about 10,000 tourists remain in Sri Lanka.

The tourism office has asked them to register at their portal.

Sri Lanka closed country for arrivals on March 19, and has only allowed Sri Lankan students and others from selectively come back from late April.

Sri Lanka is making plans to allow tourists to come under quarantine as soon as it is practical.

Tourist arrivals dropped 6.5 percent in January, 17.7 percent in February and 70.8 percent in March before going to zero in April. (Colombo/May12/2020)
