ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka is waiving landing and parking fees of international flights to Mattala and Ratmalana airports in a bid to encourage more airlines to call, the state information office said.
Tourist flights are to be operated on a schedule prepared by the Ministry of Tourism and the Civil Aviation Authority.
“The international aviation sector is currently facing a crisis and the Minister of Tourism presented a proposal to waive the landing and parking fees…,” the statement said.
The landing fees will be waived from December 26, 2020 to November 19, 2021, to encourage international airlines to operate flights to Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka is running a pilot project to allow foreign tourists under health guideline from December 26.
Ukraine’s SkyUp airlines is to carry two groups of tourists to Mattala Airport on December 28 and 29. (Colombo/Dec27/2021)
