Sri Lankaâ€™s Ports Ministry gets industry professional as secretary
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena has appointed Parakrama Dissanayake, chairman of Sri Lanka Ports Authority as the Secretary to the Ministry of Ports & Shipping and Southern Development, a statement said.
Dissanayake had assumed duties as the chairman of SLPA in June 2017, having been a former chairman from 2001 to 2004.
Before his latest appointment as chairman of SLPA, Dissanayake served as chairman and chief executive of Aitken Spence Maritime, Logistics & Cargo and director of Aitken Spence PLC.
Dissanayake, who serves on the UN/UNCTAD panel as an expert on ports and shipping is a former chairman of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, the Charted Institute of Logistics and Transport (Sri Lanka Branch) and the Central Advisory Council of Sri Lanka Transport Board.
