Sri Lankaâ€™s Walkers CML to build apartments in Maldives
ECONOMYNEXT – Walkers CML International (Private) Limited, a subsidiary of Sri Lanka’s MTD Walkers PLC group, said it has won its first luxury residential project in the Maldives to build a 10-storey apartment block.
Walkers CML International, established and operating in the Maldives, has signed a contract agreement for the ‘One Avenue’ project with DAMAS Company Private Limited, a property developer in the Maldives.
The luxury residential apartment complex will comprise 95 apartments and will be located in one of the Hulhumale` neighbourhoods overlooking the yacht marina, a statement said.
“Securing this project in Hulhumale` is a step in the right direction of achieving our group’s strategy to expand regionally,” said Jehan Amaratunga, executive deputy chairman of MTD Walkers.
Walkers CML International was incorporated to capitalize on the opportunities present in the construction industry in the Maldives, he added.
Country Head of Walkers CML International Hiran Bibile said they will be working with a Maldivian construction partner, Vanquisher Construction Company. (COLOMBO, April 20, 2017)
