Sri Lankan govt to buy 42,000MT of fertilizer
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s two state-owned fertilizer companies are to buy 42,000 metric tonnes of urea to be distributed to farmers, government spokesman Media Minister Gayantha Karunatilleke said.
The fertilizer will be provided to farmers “at a fair price” on the recommendations by the Cabinet Appointed Special Standing Procurement Committee, he told a news conference.
The proposal by Agriculture Minister Duminda Dissanayake to import the stock of fertilizer was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers, he said.
