ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) has threatened trade union action over what it calls arbitrary transfers of doctors by the health ministry.
Writing to health minister Keheliya Rambukwella on Friday (01), the GMOA said a final decision will be taken on October 07 on what action will be taken on what date.
The GMOA has demanded clear definitions regarding the annual transfer list of Grade Medical Officers.
Other demands include resolution of issues related to a ‘difficult station list’ that has replaced a ‘north and east transfer list’ for doctors who opt to work in remote areas.
Delays in internship appointments and in post-intern appointments have also been highlighted. (Colombo/Oct01/201)
