Sri Lanka’s Hirdramani group says one Covid-19 staffer positive in a factory
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s Hirdramani group says it is contact tracing and conducting more tests after a staffer was confirmed with Coronavirus during random tests at a factory in Kahathuduwa.
“Since the start of the recent COVID-19 outbreak, our dedicated factory teams have been conducting PCR testing across all facilities,” the Hirdramani group said in a statement.
“The associate is currently asymptomatic, in stable condition and following the required MOH procedures for quarantine and treatment,”
“As a precautionary measure, we are currently disinfecting the entire plant and have requested all
employees working in the facility, and those in the Group who have come into contact with the individual, to self-isolate while we conduct further PCR tests.
“We are currently working with the relevant authorities to contact trace, arrange additional tests as required and determine the next steps.”
Sri Lanka’s anti-Coronavirus centre said the staffer, a nurse from Homagama, had attended a wedding in Minuwangoda on October 03.
Minuwangoda, the epicenter of Sri Lanka’s latest cluster where a Brandix group factory was infected is under Coronavirus lockdown curfew.
The state information office said 22 persons had tested positive on October 18, taking the total in the cluster to 2,036.
By 1600hours Sri Lanka’s total in the pandemic had gone up to 5,497 with 13 deaths and 2,081 under medical care. (Colombo/Oct18/2020)
