ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s John Keells Holdings has started building a 14 million US dollar logistics park which will provide services to supply chains of both domestic and foreign companies.
LogiPark International (Pvt.) Ltd, is a fully-owned subsidiary of John Keells Holdings PLC (JKH) and an affiliate of John Keells Logistics (Pvt.) Ltd.
The facility will have 230,000 square feet of space and storage capacity of 40,000 cubic metres (CBM).
It could handle 300,000 to 400,000 CBM a month working a 12-hour shift, Chief Executive Sanath Jayatilleke said.
The logistics park will have multi-industry storage chambers, catering to a broad range of Industry verticals including FMCG, apparel, electronics, chemicals, lubricants, telecommunication, perishable goods, and general trading.
"These VAS areas will leverage latest technologies in task automation and product packaging to enable a cost-efficient service delivery in compliance to global standards of excellence," the firm said.
"The strategic location of the this centre in proximity to the highway master plan of Sri Lanka as well as the international airport and seaports creates a unique service proposition to seamlessly link local industries and consumer markets to international supply chain gateways."
