ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s Windforce Plc said it has inked a deal to acquire 100 percent stake in Sky Solar (Pvt) Ltd for 265 million rupees.
The firm is now owned by Sunshine Energy (Pvt) Ltd.
Sky Solar owns and operates 2.2 MegaWatts of rooftop solar at eight factories around Colombo.
The acquisition would increase the firm’s installed capacity to 220.2 MW from 218MW.
Windforce has 27 renewable plants in Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Ugadan and the Ukraine, the firm said.
After starting net metering in 2011, Sri Lanka had added 31 MW to the national grid through domestic systems, the firm said. (Colombo/Sept13/2021)
