ECONOMYNEXT – Passengers on a SriLankan Airlines flight who had tested positive Coronavirus, triggering a threshold for suspending flights by involved residents of China ferried from third countries, an airline official said.
China’s Civil Aviation Administration had suspected three flight routes involving Etihad from Abu Dhabi, China Eastern Airlines from Manila and SriLankan Airlines from Colombo for four weeks after 23 Coronavirus positive passengers were found, Beijing based China Daily reported.
The passengers involved were Chinese residents who had been ferried from third countries, an airline official said.
SriLankan Airlines had been operating charter flights taking passengers back to China from destinations like London from time to time.
Coronavirus has been controlled in Sri Lanka with aggressive tracing and quarantine, but officials have warned the public to be vigilant, wear masks and maintain social distance. (Colombo/Aug13/2020)
