SriLanka to bring back citizens from Coronavirus-hit UK and Australia

RESCUE FLIGHTS: SriLankan Airlines is operating rescue flights for stranded citizens and other passengers.

ECONOMYNEXT – SriLankan Airlines said it is operating two rescue flights to the UK and Australia to bring back citizens in an operation co-ordinated by the foreign ministry.

SriLankan Airlines would operate flights on May 03, 04 and 05 from London.

UK 503 would leave Sri Lanka at 0035hours arrive in London at 0730. The flight would leave London at 0930hours and arrive in Colombo at 0045 hours

UL604 would leave Colombo at 0020 hours on May 08 and land in Melbourne at 1440hours.

UK605 would leave Melbourne at 0815hours and land in Colombo at 1430hours.

SriLankan Airlines is not operating scheduled flights to Colombo at the moment, but has run rescue flights to several South Asian destinations.

Though Qatar Airvways is the only airline flying scheduled flights daily to Colombo, Sri Lanka is not allowing passengers to board airlines unless quarantine facilities are made available. (Colombo/May02/2020)
