ECONOMYNEXT – State-run SriLankan Airlines is offering outbound tickets to London, Tokyo and Hong Kong on its booking engine on several dates in May amid Coronavirus pandemic when most airlines are grounded.
The airline is running ferry flights to bring back SriLankans from several destinations amid domestic restrictions on international passengers.
SriLankan also runs cargo flights to several destinations.
SriLankan halted scheduled flights after many airports were closed and countries restricted inbound travelers.
Travelers can search for flights on its booking engine.
As of May 12, SriLankan among dates that can be seen on its booking engine are London-Heathrow at 239,000 for May 13, 154,000 on May 22, 105,000 to Hong Kong on May 27, and 162,000 to Tokyo on May 20 and 141,000 at later dates.
Only Qatar Airways is running scheduled flights to Colombo from Doha.
However some countries are allowing citizens and those with permanent resident visa to return after quarantine.
At the moment about 10,000 tourists are believed to in Sri Lanka. (Colombo/May12/2020)
