SriLankan Airlines rescue flights to Nepal, India, Pakistan to return 433 citizens
ECONOMYNEXT – SriLankan Airlines said it will operate rescue flights to Nepal, India and Pakistan to bring back stranded travelers from Sri Lanka t bring back 433 citizens stranded due to Coronavirus.
On April 21, 93 Sri Lanka from Lahore and 20 from Karachchi would are flying back on UL206.
On April 23, 101 will be fly back from Amitsar on UL 146.
On April 24, 117 Sri Lankans would return from Coimbatore on UL194 and 93 from Kathmandu UL1425.
“These special flights are being operated as part of the Government of Sri Lanka’s programme to bring back Sri Lankan students stranded in foreign countries and are being carried out in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” SriLankan Airlines said.
“The Airline earlier operated several such flights to bring home pilgrims and students stranded in several countries, including a group of students who were trapped in Wuhan during the early days of the pandemic.”
SriLankan missions in the South Asian countries have arranged with civil aviation authorities to permit the flights and passengers would be handed over to health and military authorities for quarantine. (Colombo/Apr21/2020)
