SriLankan Airlines to fly to Gan Island, Maldives
ECONOMYNEXT – SriLankan Airlines will begin flying to Gan Island in the Maldives from this winter, Chief Executive Suren Ratwatte said.
The airline will fly four times a week using A320 aircraft.
SriLankan will be the only carrier to Gan. Most international airlines fly to Male, the capital.
Sri Lankan is focussing on regional routes where yields are higher, Ratwatte said.
Gan Island is in the Southern most Addu Atoll in the Maldives.
Gan Island used to be a Royal Air Force base when the archipelago was under British rule.
