SriLankan Airlines to sub-lease surplus Airbus A330s aircraft to PIA
ECONOMYNEXT – State-run SriLankan Airlines is expecting to ink a deal to wet-lease a surplus Airbus A330 aircraft to Pakistan International Airlines and talks are on to transfer another three aircraft, State Enterprise Minister Kabir Hashim said.
The first aircraft is expecting to be deployed to fly between London, Islamabad and Lahore and it will be flown by SriLankan Airline pilots.
"There will be no job losses as a result," he said.
SriLankan was also in talks to lease another there A330s to PIA, he said.
Hashim said the airline was cutting loss making routes to Paris, Frankfurt and Rome.
Sri Lankan is also trying to lay off or cancel Airbus A350-900s ordered when the airline was run by the brother-in-law of ousted President Mahinda Rajapaksa. (Colombo/July21/2016)
