State of Emergency extended by one month

President Maithripala Sirisena has issued a Gazette Extraordinary extending the State of Emergency in Sri Lanka for one more month from today (22).

On 22 April, a State of Emergency was declared island-wide following the Easter Sunday attacks.

Accordingly, a state of emergency will be in effect for the interest of public security, the preservation of public order and the maintenance of supplies and services essential to the life of the community.
