ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s Special Task Force (STF) arrested a 43-year old suspect with 25kg of Kerala Ganja (cannabis) in a snap search carried out in Weherahara, Boralesgamuwa, yesterday.
The STF, an arm of the Sri Lanka Police, made this arrest with intelligence provided by the Military Intelligence Corps (MIC) of the Sri Lanka Army, the Army’s media division said in a statement.
STF policemen in close coordination with the information provided by MIC troops tracked the suspect and handed him over to the Boralesgamuwa police station with the stock of cannabis, the Army said.
“These snap searches of the Police are being actively supported by MIC troops as per directions of the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, to be in line with the president’s campaign for eradication of drug menace,” the statement added.
