Swiss Embassy local staffer arrested
Garnier Banister Francis, the Sri Lankan staffer working at the Swiss Embassy in Colombo who alleged that she had been abducted and threatened by men who identified themselves as Police officers has been arrested, CID sources said.
She was to be produced before a magistrate later today, these sources said.
Earlier in the day State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne told reporters that the Attorney General had ordered the CID to arrest Francis, who is a Visa Assistant in the Embassy.
In the afternoon President Gotabaya Rajapaksa told reporters that he was the victim in the whole affair.
