Thajudeen case: High Court issues summons to former SDIG Senanayake

Colombo High Court Judge Adithya Patabendige today (24) issued summons to former Senior DIG Anura Senanayake for his alleged involvement in concealing evidence in the murder of rugby player Wasim Thajudeen.

Senanayake has consequently been ordered to appear before the Colombo High Court on 6 August to testify in the case filed against him by the Attorney General yesterday.

The charges were filed under Section 198 of the Penal Code.

Thajudeen was found dead in his vehicle on Park Road on 17 May 2012 which at the time was believed to have caught fire following a collision. Later investigations revealed that it had, in fact, not been an accident, and a murder investigation was opened.

Of the suspects taken into custody and subsequently releaed on bail, the Attorney General has so far only filed charges on SDIG Senanayake.
