Three Indian ships sail with relief supplies for Sri Lanka
ECONOMYNEXT – India has sent three ships with relief supplies, and the first of the ships has already reached Colombo, following floods and devastating landslides that left more than 100 people dead.
The Indian navy ship INS Kirsh had docked in Colombo and was met by Foreign Minister Ravi Karunanayake.
The ship had inflatable boats with diving teams, and a mobile medical team with supplies.
A second ship INS Shardul had also left Kochi, and would arrive in Colombo on Sunday.
A third ship, INS Jalashwa, has also set sail from Visakhapatnam to join the relief efforts, and is expected to reach Colombo within two days, the Indian High Commission said.
