Use Government Ambulances to come to treatment centres Pavithra tells Covid patients

ECONOMYNEXT – The Health Minister is appealing to people in the Gampaha and adjacent areas to avail themselves of the Department’s Ambulance services which are being sent to the homes of those found to be Covid positive to travel to treatment centres.

Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi in a statement released late last night said some patients have refused to use the ambulances and to come to the treatment centres.

“These precautions are being taken for your safety and the safety of the community,” she said in the statement.

She also warned that not coming to the treatment centres is a violation of the Quarantine Ordinance and legal action can be taken against those who do not comply.

Much of the Gampaha area is under Police curfews today after more than 700 employees of an apparel factory in Minuwangoda tested positive for the coronavirus over the past two days.

Most of these employees live in and around the Gampaha area.

The following police areas are currently under curfew:
Gampaha, Kirindiwela, Dompe, Minuwangoda, Divulapitiya, Veyangoda, Pugoda, Ganemulla, Weerangula, Weliweriya, Malvathuhiripitiya, Nittambuwa, Meerigama, Pallewela, Yakkala, Ja-ela and Kandana.
