Vehicle insurance to pay Sri Lanka state hospital for accident victims

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s state hospitals will claim a minimum of 25,000 rupees for treating accident victims from the insurance cover of the vehicles involved, Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake said.
"The cost to the state as a result of traffic related issues is quite high," Karunayake said in a budget speech.
If casualties are admitted to state hospitals, a minimum of 25,000 rupees will be claimed from the insurance cover of the vehicle involved.
Sri Lanka will also raise the minimum fine for traffic violations to 2,500 rupees.
