Veteran banker Nihal Fonseka appointed to Sri Lanka Central Bank board
ECONOMYNEXT – Nihal Fonseka, a veteran banker, has been appointed as a member of the governing board of Sri Lanka’s central bank.
The agency said President Maithripala Sirisena had appointed him with effect from July 27.
He will fill a vacancy created by the exit of R A Jayatissa.
Fonseka was chief executive of Sri Lanka’s DFCC Bank for 13 years and Deputy Chief Executive of HSBC Sri Lanka for 10 years.
Currently, Fonseka is the Director and Chairman of the Group Audit Committee of John Keells Holdings PLC, Chairman of the Group Audit Committee of Brandix Lanka Ltd., President of the Sri Lanka National Council of the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investments, and a Member of the US-Sri Lanka Fulbright Commission.
