The Colombo Fort Magistrate yesterday allowed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to obtain blood samples of Mohommad Zaharan Rukaiya to verify the identity of her father and alleged Easter bombings mastermind Zahran Hasheem.
Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake made the order having considered a request from the CID. The CID had earlier taken into custody clothing and other items from two of the residences occupied by the suicide bombers.
The Magistrate also issued an order directing the Government Analyst to submit a DNA report based on the items seized from the houses in Kollupitiya, Mount Lavinia as well as the Shangri-la hotel room reserved by the attackers.
The CID informed court of a report received on the jewellery found in possession of the relatives of the two bombers.
According to the report, submitted by the National Gem and Jewellery Authority, the value of the items are estimated to be around Rs.12.5 million.
The CID take steps to confiscate the precious items.
