Sri Lanka Stocks end 0.43-pct higher

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka stocks gained 0.43 percent on Monday on Ceylinco Insurance, Commercial Bank and Aitken Spence helping drive the index up, a broker said.

The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index gained 30.30 points to close at 7,127.69.

The S&P SL20 index of more liquid stocks gained 0.61 per cent or 17.48 points to close at 2,884.14.

Turnover was 2.2 billion rupees with 76 stocks gaining and 69 falling.

Net foreign outflows were 1.3 billion rupees.

LOLC Holdings fell 2.75 rupees to close at 293.75 rupees.

LOLC Finance closed flat at 5.90 rupees, Browns and Company fell 1.00 rupee to close at 157.25 rupees while Browns Investment closed flat at 5.50 rupees.

Expolanka Holdings gained 60 cents to close at 45.30 rupees and Melstacorp Holdings closed 30 cents down at 43.80 rupees a share.

Dhammika Perera’s Vallibel One gained 10 cents to close at 47.80 rupees and John Keells Holdings closed 50 cents up at 149.50 rupees.

Hayleys Plc closed 70 cents up at 59.30 rupees with key subsidiaries Dipped Products gaining 90 cents to close at 46.90 rupees while Haycarb Plc falling 70 cents to close at 95.10 rupees.





The Kingsbury closed 10 cents down at 5.70 rupees while Singer Sri Lanka closed 30 cents up at 17.30 rupees.

Commercial Bank of Ceylon closed 90 cents up at 84.00 rupees and Hatton National Bank closed 2.50 rupees down at 129.25 rupees.

DFCC Bank closed 10 cents up at 59.10 rupees, and Nations Trust Bank closed 10 cents down at 53.80 rupees.

Seylan Bank closed flat at 50.00 rupees and Pan Asia Banking Corporation closed 10 cents down at 14.40 rupees.

Ceylinco insurance closed 137.25 rupees up at 2,087.25 and Housing Development Finance closed flat at 36.80 rupees while Central Finance Company closed 90 cents down at 81.90 rupees.

Royal Ceramic Lanka closed 5.00 rupees up at 260.00 rupees.

Cargills Ceylon closed flat at 232.50 rupees, Hemas Holdings closed 40 cents up at 82.00 rupees,
Ceylon Grain Elevators gain 1.50 rupees to close at 116.50 rupees while Distilleries Company fell 10 cents to close at 19.80 rupees.

In the hotel sector Eden Hotel Lanka closed 10 cents down at 10.00 rupees, and Aitken Spence Hotel Holdings closed 1.30 rupees up at 31.00 rupees while John Keels Hotels closed 10 cents up at 9.40.

Carson Cumberbatch closed flat at 274.50 rupees and Access Engineering closed 10 cents down at 22.00 rupees.

Nestle Lanka closed 13.50 rupees down at 1,142.00 rupees and Aitken Spence Plc closed 3.00 rupees up at 58.00 rupees.

Sri Lanka Telecom closed 10 cents down at 32.40 rupees, Dialog Axiata closed 10 cents up at 12.90 rupees and Richard Pieris and Company closed 20 cents up at 16.70 rupees.

Ceylon Tobacco Company closed 50 cents up at 999.50 rupees while Ceylon Cold stores closed flat at 622.00 rupees and Piramal Glass Ceylon closed 50 cents down at 10.40 rupees.

The Bank Industry was the most active, gained 0.8 percent today. (Colombo/March 29/2021)
